Student Employment Opportunity: Estuary Educator

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve in Superior, WI, seeks a student to assist with community- and school-based learning opportunities about and with the St. Louis River and communities along its shores. Gain professional experience hosting community events and listening, educating, and communicating with people of all ages in schools and an interpretive setting. Learn and apply skills like project management, science interpretation, curriculum development, and teaching.  The Estuary Educator may occasionally support other Reserve programs engaged in water quality monitoring, stewardship, and other duties. Position is open to all majors and to international students.

Student Employment Opportunity: Monitoring Technician

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve in Superior, WI, seeks an undergraduate student to assist with water quality research and monitoring projects on the St. Louis River. Gain professional experience working in a laboratory and outside on the St. Louis River and Lake Superior.  Learn several technical skills that will propel a career in the natural sciences.  Tasks include assisting with outdoor field research on boats and in wetlands, laboratory analyses, data collection, and data entry. The Monitoring Technician may occasionally support other Reserve programs engaged in outreach, education, and other duties. Position is open to all majors and to international students.

Student Employment Opportunity: Internship with the Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office

The Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office at UW-Madison is hiring two undergraduate student interns for the summer of 2024. The interns will help produce a habitat map of the St. Louis River Estuary in partnership with the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve (Reserve). This map will show land cover and dominant species and be produced from high-resolution remote sensing imagery. Position is open to all majors and international students.
