A free, informal speaker series about the St. Louis River Estuary in Duluth-Superior

John Sager with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Dean Johnston with the U.S. Coast Guard, Dave Sletten with Douglas County and Kevin Mustonen with Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, will present “Handling Hazards and Dealing With Disasters: Emergency Management in the Estuary.” When environmental emergencies and incidents happen in the watershed, agencies from the local to the federal level have different responsibilities and authorities. Come hear about those different roles from a panel of agency representatives who can provide insights into the structured world of emergency response.

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Minnesota and Wisconsin Sea Grant programs offer this series of informal evening talks about the St. Louis River Estuary. Everyone is invited and refreshments will be available.

Check the River Talk website for details. If you miss a talk, visit Wisconsin Sea Grant’s “Great Lakes Takes” blog for a summary.
